Preparing & Planning

Getting to Bali and getting ready for school

Updated April, 2024

We understand that moving to Bali, Indonesia, may feel like a big undertaking, and navigating visas and the timing of your travel are critical pieces of the plan to move. We have created this microsite for new families to help you prepare, feel connected and settle into the School and community. Please take some time to review the information.

At any stage, you can also always reach out to our Admissions Team at admissions@greenschool.org.

Please note. Green School Bali is not a travel, relocation or housing agent, but can give helpful guidance and practical information to facilitate your journey to our school.

Your enrollment is confirmed - what next?

Overview of Travel

The visa situation in Indonesia changes from time to time. Once your enrolment is confirmed, support is tailored by visa support services to ensure you have everything in order. Most enrolled families have moved from abroad and, even though it may seem confusing to start with, everyone navigates the visa process successfully.

All non-Indonesian citizens living in Bali need to have visas in place (as opposed to tourist, short-term stays). It is important to understand your options, the process and the costs of visas. well so you can plan and activate your visa process to synchronize with your planned travel dates. Visas can be issued quite quickly but certain documents and passport requirements will be required so it's important to connect with visa support services as soon as your enrolment is confirmed so you have everything in order well in advance.

The best start to your child’s transition into Green School begins with being in Bali well ahead of Orientation Day and the first day of school. Reducing stress for everyone in the family is important and we aim to play our part in supporting families through a range of settling-in events and initiatives across the first two weeks of the new school year (and beginning of semester two).

It is important to arrive in Bali ahead of Orientation Day and the first day of school to support your child to have a smooth transition into their new community. Flights can be delayed or moved, sometimes at short notice. Booking your flights well ahead of Orientation Day is strongly advised. Jet lag, settling into new surroundings, the climate in Bali and the fact that a lot may feel very new for children, are all factors that take some time to adjust to. Giving children time to settle into all that is new, is recommended, ahead of starting at their new school.

We offer zoom events ahead of Orientation Day as one way we can help you and your family prepare for your move. We share tips and information on living in Bali and share experiences on how to reduce the stress that may be associated with transitioning into life in Bali and the School. Please look out for an invitation from our Admission Team on our next zoom event and we look forward to seeing you then.
